Use and Operation of University Vehicles and Equipment

In order to ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, residents, visitors, and to prevent or minimize damage to University owned or leased property, vehicles, and equipment this policy/program has been established. Vehicles owned, leased, or rented by the University to conduct University business and non-University (personal) vehicles used to conduct business are subject to all the provisions and standards of this policy. University vehicles are available for use by departments and student organizations for University business. However, prior to operating a University vehicle, employees and students must have prior authorization by the University Police. Employees and students who drive as part of assigned job duties or to conduct University business are required to meet the Saint Francis University driving certification criteria and maintain a pre-established level of performance, and will be screened for driving certification prior to operating University owned, rented or leased vehicles and equipment. Motor vehicle records (MVRs) and driver licenses will be checked periodically on all drivers by the University Police.

All operators of University vehicles are responsible for obeying traffic laws, and are personally responsible for payment of any fines or tickets that may be incurred as a result of a violation. All operators of University vehicles and equipment are provided with a copy of the University Vehicle and Equipment Use policy. For more information contact University Police at ext. 3360.
