STEM Summer Academy Application

2019 STEM Summer Academies are reserved for students who will be entering their junior or senior year of high school and are interested in pursuing a career in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, biology, chemistry, aviation, neuroscience, or psychology. Application deadline is April 22, 2019.

Requirements

Please read the checklist prior to applying to ensure you are submitting a complete application.
Student essay
Please submit an essay responding to one of the following questions. Essay is required with submission of your registration.
* Why would you like to participate in this summer academy?
* What can you contribute to this summer academy?
* How will participation in the academy advance your future plans in science, engineering, medicine, or technology?
Responses should be limited to 2 pages, double spaced, limited to 3Mb, and uploaded as a PDF document
High school transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
* In order to be considered for the summer academies, a high school transcript is required.
Choose a method of submission:
1. Upload during the registration process
2. Upload within one week after registering through a portal provided upon your successful registration
3. Provide your teacher or guidance counselor name and email address.  They will receive a message from us to upload your transcript after you complete your application fee at the end of the registration process.
Teacher name/email address who will be providing recommendation letter
* In order to be considered for the summer academies, a teacher or guidance counselor recommendation is required.
You will be asked to provide your teacher or guidance counselor name and email address.  They will receive a message from us to upload a recommendation letter after you complete your application fee at the end of the registration process.
Application Fee
* There is a $25 non-refundable application fee for EACH academy, payable with your registration submission.
* If you are accepted to an academy, there will be additional fees to cover the cost of attendance: A $400 fee for your first academy, a $300 fee for your second academy, and a $200 fee for each additional academy. Note that this fee schedule is per student and not per family.  Students enrolled in a Catholic High School will receive $100 discount for one academy.

Important!

While in this application form, you are able to navigate forward and backward throughout the form and edit your responses; however, once you have submitted this application form, you will be unable to modify or input additional data.

 

Your teacher/guidance counselor will receive a message from us requesting your transcript/recommendation letter after your submit your payment at the end of the registration process. Your application is complete after we receive the following: Essay, Transcript and Recommendation Letter, and Application Fee.  You will receive updates when your transcript and recommendation letter are uploaded.  You may also check the status by visiting the portal provided upon your successful registration.   Students will be notified of their acceptance by May 6, 2019.
